The amount of the syndicated loan is up to 480 million Swiss francs
The National Company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) has signed an agreement to attract a syndicated loan from Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and Deutsche Bank in the amount of up to 480 million Swiss francs for a period of 3 years. KTZ plans to allocate the funds to projects of the Trans-Caspian Railway corridor. This was reported by a business information center correspondent citing data from the national company.
«The financing is being attracted in fulfillment of the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, given on January 28, 2025, for the accelerated development of the Trans-Caspian Railway corridor. The head of state emphasized the importance of activating the construction of the Myointy-Kyzylzhar line, modernizing overloaded infrastructure sections, and expanding the country’s transit potential,» the company explained.
It was also clarified that the borrowed funds will be used to advance key projects of the Trans-Caspian Railway corridor, including the construction of the Myointy-Kyzylzhar section, the modernization of overloaded railway network sections, and the refinancing of previously attracted obligations of NC KTZ.
It was previously reported that by 2029, Kazakhstan plans to reconstruct 11,000 kilometers of existing railway tracks and lay an additional 5,000 kilometers of new mainlines.
In addition, railway stations will be modernized. «Throughout the country, 125 stations, including Mangystau, Beyneu, and Shetpe, are planned to be renovated. Comfortable conditions will be created for passengers, including those with limited mobility. I am confident that the efforts being made will strengthen the transport framework of the entire country,» noted Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Furthermore, a project group has been established for the digitization of the transportation and logistics industry. It will work on improving the efficiency of transit and multimodal transportation.
